General Skilled Migration Pathways

English Level (Max 20 Points)
Superior English (IELTS 8.0 overall / PTE 79 in each band) grants 20 points. Proficient English (IELTS 7.0 / PTE 65) grants 10 points.
Partner Skills (Max 10 Points)
Having a skilled spouse with a positive skills assessment and English competency, or being a single applicant, grants up to 10 points.

Occupation Selection
Select a relevant skilled occupation matching your education and work background from the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL).
Skills Assessment
Submit your credentials, academic degrees, and employment reference letters to the relevant assessing authority (e.g., ACS, Engineers Australia, TRA, ANMAC).
EOI Submission (SkillSelect)
File an Expression of Interest (EOI) via the DHA SkillSelect portal, indicating your points score and stream choices (189/190/491).
Receive Invitation to Apply (ITA)
When your points score meets or exceeds the selection round cut-off, or when a state nominates you, DHA issues your ITA.
PR Visa Application
Submit your final visa application online, upload all civil and professional documents, pay the visa fee, and await approval.
General Skilled Migration Eligibility
Applicants must meet several core criteria enforced by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) to enter the EOI selection pool:
